Stargaze on the Metolius!

"It was fascinating looking at the stars and learning about them, the constellations, and planets. I liked having the sky chart and learning how to use it--very cool! Now I have developed a better informed appreciation for the dark night sky." ~ Jana (2022)

Stargazing Tours

Join Starshine to marvel at our incredible universe in the gorgeous setting at House on Metolius. You'll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon's night sky while locating constellations, observing visible planets, the moon, and other celestial objects, and listening to ancient stories about the stars.

Tours begin about a half hour after sunset. Stay after the one-hour tour to get a glimpse into the deep sky through a telescope that magnifies the naked eye by 350. Each group receives a sky map, specialized to the month of viewing and binoculars to borrow.

Starshine also offers a special Summer Solstice Tour. If you've been to one our Stargazing Tours, the Summer Solstice Tour offers something new and special! It puts a special focus on the solstice with an ancient story told on solstice nights and facts about this special night of the year.
